Excerpt:

“Jenna Winslow. Pleased to meet you.” I think. When she shook his hand, a disquieting sensation rippled through her. Judging by the clouded expression on his face, she was pretty sure he’d been affected by the contact as well.
“Winslow?” Matt tilted his head. He dropped her hand and moved forward to look at the metal plaque that identified the dinosaur bones. “DeeDee. Stegosaurus. Discovered by Derrick Winslow, Madagascar 1987.”
He turned and regarded her intently, as if taking her measure all over again. Unused to such scrutiny, Jenna glanced at her hands and took a deep breath, inhaling the unique scent of the museum. The mustiness of age mingled with the faint odor of cleaning supplies and floor wax. She found comfort in the familiar scents of the museum, let them wrap around her like an old friend. “My father. I come here to be close to him.”
“I’d heard he’d passed away. I’m sorry for your loss, and for the loss to the scientific community.”
“Thank you.” Unsure of what to say next, Jenna began to determinedly finish the picture of DeeDee she’d started earlier. The man wheeled next to the bench and leaned over her shoulder. The whisper of his breath across the sensitive skin on her neck sent goose bumps skittering across her arms. His nearness confused her. People usually didn’t invade her space. People usually tried to avoid being near her.
“Why not go to his grave if you want to be close to him?” She heard him ask softly.
A melancholy smile formed. “Because I followed his burial instructions, and it’s kind of hard when his remains are sprinkled over a dig site on another continent.”
“I can see where that could be a problem. But not a major obstacle.”
    “I don’t fly.”

A poignant story of loneliness and pain, of heartache and hope; Discovering Jenna is a lovely way to spend an hour. The characters are admirable in that they value the person behind the imperfections, not looking only at the surface. Matt and Jenna are warm and loving individuals that felt remarkably like friends. Though the story was short, it was a satisfying way to spend an hour; well worth the time spent. Author, Kim Watters has claimed a place on my "watch list". Her descriptive power allowed this reader to step right into the museum and become a part of this romantic story.

Discovering Jenna is a must read for everyone. I was completely engrossed with the story immediately after I started reading. Jenna and Matt are intriguing people that touched this reader's heart. Once again, Kim Watters has sketched a believable story in every way. The characters inside the pages have a handicap that makes them unique in their own special way. As Jenna was reflecting on her life and how she had been treated since the accident, I could share in her sorrow. My heart just melted when she met Matt's niece. I found this terrific page-turner not only well-written but a beautiful inspiration.

I liked this story because you felt bad for both Jenna and Matt. Your heart warms to see that they hit it off so well and complimented each other in so many ways. After so many years dealing with both of their handicaps, it was so nice to see that they both worked past the hurt and found something special and amazing in each other. They both knew what it was like dealing with a handicap and they knew how to bring the other out of their shells to enjoy life again. I would definitely read more stories from Kim Watters.
